Flamenco Dance, Voice, and Compás Classes

I can say without reservation, that I live for flamenco. I've dedicated my life to this art form and it has had a profound impact on me. I believe part of being a good teacher is being an active performer, giving students an example and inspiration as well as instruction. My philosophy on flamenco is simple: Compás and technique is everything. Understanding the rhythm, allows you to understand the movement. Understanding the rhythm also allows you to dance to a singer and work with a guitar player. Solid palmas(clapping) and learning how to use your ears is essential for any dancer. I use 20+ years experience as a full time professional dancer, singer and guitarist both on stage and in the studio, and the many great Spanish artists I learned from as the foundation for all that I teach. I believe this is essential to teach flamenco properly.

I also enjoy teaching HOW to dance flamenco, not just choreography. The gypsies teach flamenco to their children as a game, and they love it. I try to make my classes a fun environment conducive to learning. Flamenco should be a joy to dance. In the end, my goal is to give you the tools to fully express yourself in your own way(in compás of course!), the way flamenco is intended.

PRIVATE IN-PERSON CLASSES Dance, Palmas and Voice

Private lessons are great way to start for fresh beginners all the way to professionals looking to hone their skills. All levels welcome.

Requirements: Flamenco dance shoes or character shoes just to start, flamenco skirt or loose skirt with extra fabric to move(if you don't have these I can tell you what/where to get).

Classes: Please inquire about current rates and availability. I always find a way to get new students started. I'm also available for master classes and group workshops. All ages and levels welcome.

Location: Classes are taught in the Ballard/Phinney neighborhood of Seattle. Details will be sent with registration.

Cancellation Policy: Students are required to give a minimum 48 hour notice for all cancellations. It is helpful to receive as much advance notice as possible as I can fill the spot for other students.
